Bling for Jeanette

While visiting in Tennessee and Georgia between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I saw a lot of fun "blingy" jewelry on display in stores and being worn by elegant-looking ladies on holiday at festive places like the Opryland Hotel.  The cheerfulness of it all inspired my creativity, so I talked Jeanette into going with me to the crafts stores to pick out a bunch of beads in colors that she likes to wear.  I brought the beads back home to San Diego with me and started creating!  These three coordinating chains are my finished product.  I think they definitely meet the criteria for fun and "blingy," and the good thing is, each strand can be worn alone, or they can all be worn together for maximum bling effect!

Evan's lounging pj's

These types of pj bottoms are such easy things to make.
Especially helpful is the fact that the fabric is a warm and cozy polar fleece.

One of the gifts I received for Christmas is a wonderful variety of fleece and flannel fabrics, along with spools of thread to match.  It looks like I won't be running out of lots of fun things to sew for a good little while.  Yay!

Alex's bird nests

I finished this little set today using the leftover beads from a three-strand necklace that we made for Alex over the Christmas holidays while I was visiting in Murfreesboro.  Our children and grandchildren are all very good at giving me precise ideas for the kinds of designs they prefer, often (as in the case of Alex's bird nests) even providing a photograph to use as a guide.  And Alex is always duly appreciative when I'm able to come through with a final product that is at least a passable imitation of what she has in mind.  That's part of what makes being a grandma a fun thing.
